Prepare yourselves to be impaled with an emotional energy and intensity that will leave you craving for more.  Driving this hunger is the creative, and often disruptive, musical arrangements and novel tonal nuances that infect the music of Matt and Nick Smith. Their recent launch of Fly by Night didn’t happen overnight, in fact, this is the culmination of 8 years of disciplined attention to detail, trial and error, experimentation and having a no quit attitude.  They’ve honed their craft as EDM song writers, composers and producers by being relentless students of their mentors, DeadMau5 (fellow Burlington, Ontario resident), Above and Beyond, and Seven Lions.  The unique genius and distinctiveness of these artists, ignited within Matt and Nick a desire to push the creative and musical margins of their works, such that each and every song scratches the musical soul of every listener.

A large part of their creative success is due to their own unique chemistry, which is more Yin and Yang. They complete each other. Their complementary styles, whether it’s Matt working the day shift and Nick on nights, or Matt with his foot on the accelerator and Nick stomping on the brake, ensures a perfect tension in the creative process.  There is no such thing as mediocracy with these artists. Likewise, the brothers are passionate about two things.  First, that their music transports their listeners to somewhere “other worldly”, whether that’s a place of joy, serenity, exhilaration or inspiration and second that their music harmonizes, unifies us.  For Matt and Nick, music is the thread that binds each of us together, it is truly the transcendent (universal) language we all hear and speak.  They consistently give shout outs to their alma mater, University of Guelph for this awakening and respect, as well as, for their personal commitment and reverence for the planet that also unifies and sustains us.

The best example of how these lads truly “get it” is galvanized in their first original release, “Next to You”.  Lyrically simple and rhythmically hypnotic, this song captures the universal hope and thirsting to be near one another during a pandemic.  Equally compelling and viscerally gripping is their soon to be released track, “Up To Speed”, which captures the challenges of staying connected and meeting one another’s needs in these challenging times.

Crisscrossing a number of genres including, House, Deep House, Rap, Melodic and Progressive House Fly by Night commits to pushing the boundaries , taking both their music and ‘Flyers’ to new, yet uncharted dimensions.
